The Cloud's Touch
The Cloud's Touch
When I first started storm chasing in 2019, I was a bit of an idiot with what I was doing. I went down to some bluffs south of Denver since I saw a storm was coming in. I was in my sandals, but I trekked up a hill anyway after running a mile to chase this cell over the ridge. As I was hiking up the ridge, I tripped and split my big toe open on a rock, which caused my toe to start bleeding all over my sandal. I pushed forward and saw this massive cell moving over the area and luckily, I captured some lightning. I still didn’t know what I was doing so this photo is nowhere near what it would have been had I shot in the proper settings but that is why I love this photo. You have to be a novice before you can become a master, and this was a huge part of my learning process. Unfortunately, after this photo was taken, the cell shifted and started moving towards me so I had to start running down the hill back to the car which was quite the experience in pouring rain.
