NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE

back in 2020 i wanted to create a crash course in nature photography and show the fundamentals, concepts, and techniques of shooting. i developed a 30 minute course that took 100 hours to produce but i was able to get everything into a concise format that is digestible. the course is hosted through skillshare and you will get 1 month free if you sign up through the link in the next page.

EDITING PROCESS

I haven’t put out a lot of content showing my workflow so that was my entire goal with this video. i show the editing process for “summit sunrise” which is a photo that was selected to show in the atlanta international airport from september through january of 2023.

editing software

the photo editing software that i use for all of my photography is adobe lightroom classic. i will also use photoshop for any deep editing such as for astrophotography. when i am making a collage video of photos for youtube or my website i will use adobe premiere rush which is also available through the adobe creative suite. the Creative suite has a ton of different tiers for whatever creative endeavors you are looking for. i have broken out a few of the plans below:

Lightroom (1 tb of cloud storage)

  • $9.99/ month

  • lightroom and lightroom mobile are included in this plan

  • adobe portfolio to create a portfolio webpage is included in this plan

  • 1 terabyte of cloud storage is included in this plan

  • free 7 day trial period

photography plan (20 gb of cloud storage)

  • $9.99/ month

  • lightroom, lightroom classic, and photoshop are all included in this plan

  • 20 gigabytes of cloud storage is included in this plan

  • free 7 day trial period

photography plan (1 tb of cloud storage)

  • $19.99 per month

  • lightroom, lightroom classic, and photoshop are all included in this plan

  • 1 terabye of cloud storage is included in this plan

if you are a complete creative then i recommend going for the full adobe creative suite. the suite is packed with everything you need to create any asset you can possibly dream of. here are some of the specs below:

  • $54.99/ month

  • lightroom, photoshop, premiere pro, indesign, illustrator, acrobat pro, and adobe express are all included with the 20+ creative cloud apps that you receive with this subscription

  • free 7 day trial period

TOPAZ LABS

editing night photography is extremely challenging and maintaining quality and photo integrity is of the utmost importance, especially when it comes to printing. enter topaz labs. i just started using this software and i am already in love with it. it completely cleaned up an image i was working on printing and now i cannot go without it. this is a plugin to adobe lightroom which makes the integration process a breeze and you can edit your photo pre or post editing. topaz has a denoise, a sharpening, and a gigapixel ai (max resolution) software. you can purchase these individually, but i recommend buying the 3 of these in a bundle since they work in concert together.

NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY FUNDAMENTALS PRESETS PACK

the editing process can be extremely overwhelming when you are first starting out. if you want to take some of the time and energy out of the editing process you can purchase these nature photography fundamentals presets. this is a good starting point for your photos and includes 10 presets for various situations which include forests, lakes, macro, mountains, storms, sunsets (direct light), sunsets (indirect light), sunrises (direct light), sunrises (indirect light), and waterfalls.

these are just a starting point as the specific exposure, lights, and shadows will effect these presets as well, but they will save you a ton of time in these situations.
