In the spring of 2018, I had just purchased my second camera and took it out with some friends to shoot in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. We made our way through the park shooting at each area we could until we found ourselves on the final ridge to catch the sunset. It was raining all around us, creating rainbows on one side while the sun was interplaying beautifully with the clouds on the other. The storm over the canyon was mesmerizing with the way the clouds were picking up the orange hues from the sunset. I loved the way the virga was blocking some of the view but added a complexity that was phenomenal to this scene.
