Moon Lightning
Moon Lightning
I headed out toward Wray, Colorado to catch a cell but the rain and hail got too intense on the way in that it kept me on the periphery. I shot the sunset and some lightning before I headed out to a country road to shoot the cell moving over some farmland. As the cell continued to blow east the moon started being revealed from behind the clouds. I waited for the moon to be fully exposed to capture the lightning under the clouds as the moon shined brightly in the sky. I normally do not sell photos that have any overexposed elements such as the moon in this shot, but for a scene like this it would have been impossible to capture a properly exposed moon with the lightning in one shot. I love being able to share this photo because it was such a unique and rare experience.
