I was headed south of Denver on the freeway to shoot a cell when I decided to turn around after I saw it did not look as active as I thought it would be, so I headed to Standley Lake to shoot the sunset instead. After shooting the sunset for a while I noticed a couple bolts of lightning off in the distance that caught my eye. I stayed and shot the storm for a while on the edge of the lake, until I noticed the wind shifted and sent the storm hurling my way. The lightning was the closest and most intense I have ever seen in my life. The cloud to cloud lightning was intense as the bolts drove towards the ground in the distance. This was one of my favorite nights I’ve ever had shooting storms.
