The Road to Hana is one of my favorite adventures on the island of Maui.  It is an exhilarating experience that takes you by black sand beaches, vast amounts of ocean, lava tubes, rainbow eucalyptus trees, dangerous one way roads, local produce markets, waterfalls, and volcanoes to name a few.  On the back side of the island you make it over to Haleakala National Park which has a beautiful set of waterfalls you can hike to.  However, in order to get to the final waterfall on the Pipiwai Trail, you must first cross through the bamboo forest.  The forest is absolutely amazing to experience.  The bamboo shoots out of the ground as high as you can see.  The lights and shadows cut and cast through the forest making for interesting dynamics throughout the forest around you.  This is one of the most beautiful and mesmerizing places on the island of Maui.
