When we pulled up to the Aoraki/ Mount Cook area I was flabbergasted. The mountains were so rugged, hugged by low hanging clouds, and glaciers were hugging the sides of the mountains. It was a surreal scene that touched me instantly as I had never seen glaciers before this trip. The glaciers were melting, creating waterfalls in every directions, which lead to lush green mountain sides, followed by extremely dry grass which is where we were located at this point. I tried to capture the different elements of this in this photo which was admittedly hard to fully encapsulate.
