What Lies Beneath
What Lies Beneath
At the beginning of 2023 I started pushing myself to go on more ice adventures than I ever have before. I headed up to Lake Haiyaha where there had been a rock slide the year prior that pushed glacial powder into the lake. This created a surreal turquoise color to the lake that carried over into the ice in the winter. As I walked around the lake I saw a small area of ice that was broken open near some rocks. I jumped down into it and broke through the ice into the freezing cold water. I moved around for a second and then saw this beautiful area of ice that I could shoot looking up toward the frozen lake. I loved the way the light shined through this ice and illuminated the crazy ice formations that had developed underneath the lake.
