On the way back down from Island Lake, we started getting our typical afternoon storms ripping through the mountains we were standing in. On the way back down the lights and shadows started inter playing wonderfully with the landscape. As we were coming down this ridge the fireweed wildflowers were lit up beautifully with the shadows becoming more intense in the background. I don’t take a ton of wildflower shots but I knew I had to stop and shoot this the instant I saw it.
