Jellyfish in the Night
Jellyfish in the Night
As I was coming down from the foothills, I saw a lightning bolt strike just west of Denver. I had been watching the clouds for hours but I was not sure they would be very active. I instantly had adrenaline hit and decided I was going to chase this one out. I drove toward Denver watching the activity in the clouds and kept adjusting where I thought I needed to be to get a shot. I contemplated going further east but I realized this cell had the likelihood of falling off quickly in activity so I drove to Sloan Lake where I knew I could get a shot quickly. It took me almost exactly a half hour to drive to this spot, I flew into the parking lot, and sprinted to set up for this shot. Between the first shot I took and this last shot of lightning was 2 minutes and 2 seconds, and there was not another shot of lightning after this.
