In 2023 I did Mount Whitney for the third straight year with my hiking partner and we brought another friend Jordan for the first time as well. We started the hike at 10:45PM the night before and hiked all through the night to get to the final ascent around 6:30AM. We were exhausted from running on no sleep and pushing ourselves to get to the top in time for sunrise. The temperature had dropped into the 30’s as well which made it difficult to keep pushing to the top through exhaustion as well. I got to the final ridge and saw one of the most beautiful sunrises the alpine has to offer and was absolutely stoked to capture this memory.
