Black Lake has a very special place in my heart.  My life has been changed in a multitude of ways through this lake and the 10 mile snowshoe is one of my favorite winter adventures.  As we approached the lake in the thick of winter, the snow and wind picked up dramatically.  The snow started blowing off the ridge and picked up steam just before it would rip across the lake and hit us like tiny blades between the cold weather and velocity from the wind.  This shot was a perfect example of the wonder of winter in the backcountry and the beauty that isolation provides.
